Rev Canon Dr Chigor Chike is the vicar of Emmanuel Church Forest Gate. Rev Chigor has been in Parish since 1999, having started his ministry in Birmingham as a Church Army Evangelist. Rev Chigor has also been active in the social justice and interfaith field in the UK for many years. He chairs a race-equality organisation and leads an interfaith project called Faithful Friends.
Rev Chigor holds PhD in Christian Theology and an MA in Islamic Studies. He has published several religious books, including the ground-breaking book, African Christianity in Britain.
Rev Chigor is the national Chair of the Anglican Minority Ethnic Network (AMEN) and is a Visiting Lecturer on Christian Mission, Pentecostalism and World Religions at the University of Roehampton. Regarding his ministry at Emmanuel Church, Rev Chigor says, “I always thank God for the opportunity he gives people day after day to encounter him through Emmanuel Church”.
